internship

South African graduates now have a fresh opportunity to build careers in advancement, thanks to a new internship programme launched by the Council for Advancement and Support in Education (CASE) and the South African Institute for Advancement, Inyathelo.

The programme, which runs for eight weeks, offers hands-on experience in key areas such as fundraising, alumni engagement and strategic communication. Eleven graduates from six universities across the country have been selected to participate.

Interns will receive professional mentorship, work on collaborative projects and gain valuable networking opportunities. The initiative aims to strengthen institutional resilience and create new career paths for young professionals.

Feryal Domingo, Acting Executive Director at Inyathelo, highlighted the importance of this programme, especially during Youth Month. She emphasized that many careers are oversubscribed, and this initiative opens doors to employment that young people may not have considered before.

One of the interns, Mpho Seete from the University of Pretoria, expressed excitement about the opportunity. She believes that combining the principles of ubuntu with advancement tools can help address global socio-economic challenges.

Sue Cunningham, President and CEO of CASE, shared that the programme was first launched in 2016 to nurture entry-level talent. Bringing it to South Africa marks a significant milestone in expanding career opportunities in education and philanthropy.

This pioneering internship is expected to cultivate the next generation of professionals dedicated to driving growth and innovation in learning and development across Africa.
